Camping at the Rincon Parkway

While this doesn't have anything to do with full timing, it is worth noting, as people come here from out of the county, as well as out of state.
The Rincon Parkway is a stretch of road that runs along the coast in Ventura, CA. There are 127 sites, end to end, facing west. There are no hookups, water or other facilities,  so no tents allowed.
It can be a challenge to find an open site, particularly if you wait until Thursday or Friday, especially in the summer months. (We got here around 1100 on a Wednesday, and all but a few spots were open)

The beach is a short climb down from most sites, although there are a few along a seawall that have no direct access.
The best part of camping at the Rincon?  The spectacular sunsets!    Then, time in front of a campfire (man made rock fire pits at all but the "seawall" sites - bring a portable one) listening to the sound of the surf.

The Decision is Pretty Much Made

And that decision is to go full time in an RV!

This blog will be a chronicle of our journey, from beginning steps to on the road happenings.

One year ago, we upgraded from a 24 (?) ft trailer, to a 32 ft Winnebago 5th wheel. Pretty much each time we took it out, Tom talked about going full time. "We could do this".  As for me, the thought of leaving "home base" was just too much.
But. on our last outing, to the oh so peaceful Foster Park, I had an epiphany of sorts. We're not getting any younger, and maybe the time to retire is now. Or, at least sooner rather than later.
So, now, the planning has begun!  Thankfully, there are a lot of full time folks out there who share their experiences with the nuts and bolts of RV living.
So much to figure out!!
First, selecting our domicile. We have to decide on a state to claim as our "home base". An address so we can get DL's, RV registration, voter registration, etc.
We figure we'll follow the warm weather...south in the winter, north in the summer.
Funny, I really think we can do this!
